Many in the Rose City will remember the original raise the roof fundraiser, which successfully raised enough to build a roof on one of the yards at the Equestrian Centre.
The squad, which is a youth group run by Tomorrow Today, decided to take on the name of that fundraiser following the devastating storm that tore through Benalla on Saturday, January 14.
Tomorrow Today’s Alex Ross, who has been supervising the youngsters, said this was the second stall they have had at Benalla market.
“We were here last month and raised $360,” Ms Ross said.
“Our aim is to hit $900, and we hope to get there today.
“The money we raise is not just for the church building, there are a few buildings that were damaged including one of the kiosks at the showgrounds.”
Squad Member Katie told the Ensign about the ways the group was raising money.
“We have a lolly jar for people to guess how many are in there,” Katie said.
“We have face painting and hair plaiting.
“We are selling the pancake spaghetti and meatballs.
“That is pancake batter made to look like spaghetti, and the strawberry sauce is instead of Napoli sauce, the white chocolate is instead of Parmesan cheese, the meatballs are Maltesers, and the bolognese is with chocolate sauce.
“We have spiders for sale.”
