THE Port of Echuca Discovery Centre will benefit from the $46 million Regional Tourism Investment Fund.
The Victorian Government has committed $600,000 towards the centre for the redevelopment and enhancement of the visitor experience.
“Our A grade tourism offering will go to the next level with these exciting works,” Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp said.
“The government is well aware of the impacts of coronavirus on the tourism sector. That’s why we are investing to ensure it continues to rebound.
“These works will provide crucial jobs in construction while bolstering our region’s tourism appeal and bolstering jobs into the future.”
The project will allow significant inclusion of digital activation and experiences, Aboriginal interpretive experience, activation of a log slip into the working museum along with retention of shipwright construction skills and programs.
Tourism Minister Martin Pakula said continued investment in the industry made Victoria stand out.
“Victoria has many natural appeals but the main reason we lead the country in tourism is because we invest in our attractions and its people,” he said.
