All Petstock stores around Australia and New Zealand are taking part in the project in hopes of raising $827,750 for their charity partners.
The initiative continues until Tuesday, December 31.
Petstock Echuca’s charity of choice is Lort Smith, a service that provides Animal Therapy to Victorians struggling with illness, adversity, loneliness and long-term impacts of trauma.
Echuca’s store manager Terril Westwood said the Echuca team connected with the Lort Smith cause.
“That resonated with us, a lot of people have mental health struggles at the moment so it’s nice to know that people are going that path and using animals to make it easier for them,” she said.
Customers can get behind the initiative by purchasing a bauble in store for either $2 or $5 with their shopping.
All proceeds will go towards the collective $827,000 goal before being split evenly between the eight different charities.
Ms Westwood added that they hope to raise at least $1000 in the Echuca store.
“We’ve been really busy at the moment with 150 people coming through the store every day,” she said.
“It doesn’t take much to get a couple of dollars off a few people.
“If we can get at least half of them to donate, then our goal is fairly achievable.”
So far, the team have raised half of their $1000 goal, and hope to raise the rest before the initiative closes on December 31.
