Coleambally Garden Club travelled to Narrandera for its August meeting last Saturday.
There was a quick visit to the Shady Gum Nursery before lunch, and followed in the afternoon by a visit to two beautiful gardens.
The first (Betty’s) was a mature rambling garden featuring shady trees that, over the years, have been underplanted with many garden beds with a huge variety of plants, including cacti and succulents.
An amazing array of pots planted with succulents lined the walkways and paths.
Betty had tons of stories about the history of the garden over the past 70 odd years.
The second was a recently established garden (in last five years) that featured garden beds bordering the lawned area with a separate iris and grape hyacinth bed.
A pergola area taking centre stage has recently been added.
This featured wisteria and a dwarf ornamental peach along with many other plantings.
A blue spruce planted in a large pot was a highlight along one boundary.
Dawn kindly provided the group with afternoon tea.
