Three dedicated long-distance runners from Mathoura Public School took to the bush track in Gundagai, participating in the Riverina PSSA Cross Country event on July 13.

Despite the cold conditions, the talented squad representing Deniliquin and district displayed remarkable determination and skill, achieving impressive results, including a podium finish.

Sophie Eddy (10 years girls) emerged as the strongest runner in her age group from the Riverina, finishing first and earning the title of age champion.

Khoa Unwin (11 years girls) delivered an outstanding performance, securing fifth place in her event, while Katelyn Eddy (12 years girls) finished in an impressive second place.

As a result of their stellar performances, all three girls have qualified to compete in the NSW PSSA Cross Country Championships, to be held in Sydney on July 23.

This marks the third consecutive year that these exceptional athletes have qualified for the state level of this competition.

Mathoura Public School staff and students wish the trio all the very best.

The school community is confident that the girls will continue to excel and make the school and community proud.
