Beginning on Tuesday, August 24, and including at the site of the new Greater Shepparton Secondary College building on Feshti St, Incolink chief executive Erik Locke said his organisation would test at large sites to help ease the burden on local health authorities.
“We need to test widely and isolate as quickly as possible to stop this outbreak growing further and turning into the terrible situation we see occurring in NSW,” he said.
“Since the pandemic began, our industry has done everything possible to keep operating safely, with proactive measures including conducting asymptomatic COVID-19 testing on-site, continuous temperature screening through wearable sensors and strict COVID-safe protocols.
“We look forward to seeing Shepparton’s construction workers on-site and ready for testing to help bring this situation under control quickly.”
Current restrictions for the construction industry include a 25 per cent cap - and a maximum of five - baseline workers on site, while workers are limited to just one site unless it is not reasonable and practical.
All workers must wear a facemask, unless they have a valid exemption.
Incolink's bus has conducted more than 23,000 COVID-19 tests since April, 2020, while it is also driving vaccination through its industry.
“We want to help Victoria get this outbreak under control as soon as possible,” Mr Locke said.
“Our state can’t afford another prolonged lockdown – it is imperative that we all get vaccinated and assist with testing wherever we can."
