The event hosted by Greater Shepparton Business Network, initially scheduled for March but postponed, will now be held on Wednesday, November 13, at the GV Hotel in Shepparton.
It promises an intimate evening with one of tennis’s most compelling personalities, touching upon her remarkable journey through professional sports, personal challenges and beyond.
Dokic, whose career caused quite a racket when she reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals at just 16 and climbed to the world’s number four spot by 19, cemented her status as an iconic figure in Australian sports history.
Her battles on and off the court, including her struggles with mental health and domestic violence, have become a beacon of hope for many.
Today, she is recognised not only for her athletic prowess but also for her resilience and advocacy in these critical areas.
Seamlessly transitioning from the tennis courts to the commentators’ booth, Dokic has established herself as a respected voice in tennis analysis, particularly renowned for her contributions during the Australian Open.
Her visit to Shepparton is also part of a promotional tour for her book, Fearless: Finding the Power to Thrive, a testament to her journey of overcoming adversity.
Setting aside the competitive spirit of tennis, the evening promises to foster collaboration and strengthen community bonds.
It swings into action with a 40-minute keynote address by Dokic, a question and answer session, and a chance to engage directly with her during a cocktail-style networking event.
Adding to the allure, tickets to the event include a complimentary drink and finger food upon arrival and the opportunity to listen to and learn from Dokic’s experiences of hope, self-belief and survival.
In Conversation with Jelena Dokic is on Wednesday, November 13, at 5.30pm at the GV Hotel, 223 High St, Shepparton.
Tickets are $90 per person, including the Riverlinks ticket booking fee.
