Last year, the team at Kyabram Bakers Delight raised $17,700 for BCNA during its 2023 Pink Bun campaign and ranked within the top five across the 500-store network.
This year, the staff at the Kyabram branch intends to better last year’s amount and raise over $20,000 for the BCNA.
Kyabram franchise owners Vince and Liza Curtis have been selling baked goods to the community for 21 years and have been the masterminds behind the store’s passionate Pink Bun campaign.
Mrs Curtis’ father, who passed away from cancer many years ago, is a driving force behind the motivation to give back support to families going through the same situation.
“We have many customers come in and share stories of their cancer journeys and it’s an opportunity to listen and really connect with them,” Mrs Curtis said.
“Everyone has been touched by cancer in some way and – as a team – if we can shed a little bit of light on those going through the journey then that is all we need, to be proud of what we are doing.
“We’re very proud of the fact we are one of the top bakeries, it’s a campaign that our staff and our customers get right behind.
“We appreciate the opportunity to not only raise money for BCNA but also raise the awareness that BCNA is there to support people and families going through breast cancer.
“Whilst it’s a very serious topic, it is a very bright and active campaign.
“It’s an opportunity to do something positive for others and be a part of the bigger picture, bringing some relief to people and families that are going through a cancer journey,” she said.
Since 2000, Bakers Delight has partnered with BCNA and raised over $25 million for the cause.
Bakers Delight joint chief executive officer Elise Gillespie said the Pink Bun campaign would not be as successful if it were not for franchise owners such as Vince and Liza Curtis who display “generosity and enthusiasm” for the cause.
“It’s incredible to see our bakeries turn pink for this special campaign,” Mrs Gillespie said.
The team at Kyabram Bakers Delight will be back in full-force this year, selling the iconic pink buns and aiming to beat last year’s incredible result.
