“If you’ve been Christmas shopping in Kyabram over the last week you may have noticed the Wrap for Rochy tins in several retail stores,” initiative organiser Bronwyn Vick, proprietor of Open House, said.
“I wanted to find a way to help flood victims in Rochester. The idea of a gold coin donation in exchange for Christmas gift wrapping has gained momentum and the appeal is now ready for stage two,” she said.
Ms Vick said she had secured space within the brand new The Kyabram Collective store located at 134 Allan St and was working closely with The Kyabram Collective’s, Luteasha Anderson-Adams to create a space during December where the public could go and have all their Christmas gifts wrapped in exchange for a small donation.
“All wrapping paper, ribbons and tags have been generously donated and we now need volunteers.
“We are seeking creative members of our community to help wrap. Interested people, whether they be retirees or school leavers, can contact me on 0477 521 160,” she said.
There will be trestle tables set up in the back corner of the premises, which is filled with homewares, goods and just about anything you would expect see at a market — minus the food — for gift wrapping purposes.
The service will operate from Monday to Thursday, with times to be confirmed once volunteers have registered their commitment.
