Now, she wants to give back to the club that helped deliver her netball dream.
Lake has been appointed the coach of Moama's A and B grade sides for the 2020 season, taking over from premiership teammates Charlotte Long and Alex Daly.
For Lake, the opportunity to give back to the Mowers was an opportunity she desperately wanted.
“Going back to Moama was a really big draw for me,” she said.
“The club gave me something I have always wanted in my netball career in 2018, and I will be forever grateful for the opportunity. I want to give back to this club for all they have given me, so when the opportunity to return as a coach presented itself, I jumped at it.”
Having sat out netball for the 2019 season as she focused on football with the Echuca Football Club, Lake said she had again found her love for the game.
“Netball has always been a huge part of my life,” she said.
“Having this year out has been a really good thing for me, it's helped me to realise just how much the sport means and how much I love being a part of it. It was a no brainer to come back to the sport, and I'm so excited to be back.”
Having fallen just a few goals short of a third straight premiership, Moama enters this season with some uncertainty over their line up.
Lake however believes the side will be fully motivated when the season starts.
“There are a few changes in the air,” she said.
“But I think the playing group, especially those who were a part of the grand final loss, will be extremely driven to have success.
“It's a tough thing to go through (losing a grand final). You come away more motivated than ever, and I think those who were a part of that loss will not only push each other forward, but will work to bring the newer players coming into the group forward and push to make them better players.”
As for her playing future, Lake - whose last appearance was a best on court showing in the grand final - says she may yet make a few appearances in black and white.
“I'm still motivated to play football, and it's getting to the point where playing both is going to be a real challenge,” she said.
“But, I still love this game, I still love playing, so you'll probably see me out there a few times throughout the year.”
