Here’s a wonderful opportunity to volunteer in the lead-up to Christmas.
The Shepparton Marketplace is gearing up for the festive season by offering gift-wrapping services to the community throughout December.
However, this heart-warming initiative wouldn’t be possible without the invaluable efforts of volunteers.
This year, shoppers will be able to have gifts wrapped for a gold coin donation per present, and all the donations will go back to a local charity.
FamilyCare and the Caroline Chisholm Society are seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with wrapping schedules and invite everyone to partake in this Christmas-themed activity.
“This is a fantastic community initiative,” FamilyCare volunteer co-ordinator Andrea Tuohey said.
“Not only can you get your Christmas presents wrapped, but you’re also giving back to the community at the same time.
“It’s a win-win, really.
“Our shift donations will go back into helping the much-needed services around our disability support programs — every bit of help counts.”
The wrapping station will be set up near the Santa photo area at the Shepparton Marketplace, and both charities require volunteers to cover shifts from December 11 until Christmas Eve.
Caroline Chisholm Society program co-ordinator Dianne Daws said the donations collected during its wrapping shifts would aid pregnant mothers and families in need by providing essentials such as nursery furniture and clothing.
“Our services heavily rely on the support of the community, and this is an opportune moment for people to step in and make a difference,” Mrs Daws said.
“We particularly need volunteers for afternoon shifts, but any assistance you can provide would be immensely appreciated. Come, be part of the Christmas cheer and lend a helping hand.”
