The cut will be taking place at High St Barber in Echuca, which is owned by family friend Rick Wilcock.
Lilly’s mum, Kate, has said that Lilly was inspired to donate her hair by seeing an ad on television.
“About a year or two ago, Lilly saw an ad on TV with little sick kids with no hair,” she said.
“(Lilly) said ‘that’s really sad, I’d really like to donate my hair and make wigs for them’ —she’s not sick or anything, she just wants to donate her hair.”
Lilly’s haircut will be done by Mr Wilcock, a family friend and a trusted person to put in charge of the big event.
“We’re like best friends with Rick who owns High St Barber, so he suggested organising it at his shop and get it done,” Kate said.
“We also have a seven-year-old who’s autistic, and he only trusts Rick to cut his hair, so we’ve always been coming to Rick’s to get his hair done.”
While Lilly is excited to make the selfless donation, Kate has had a hard time with the looming change.
“I think Lilly’s excited, but for me it’s hard,” she said.
“I’ve always wanted the long hair and I love playing with her hair.
“I brush her hair every day, but it’s at the point now where it’s too long and it’s frustrating, and it’s too long for her to brush herself.
“I think she’s more excited about being able to be independent and brush her own hair once it’s short.”
Lilly and Kate set a fundraising target of $1000, and so far the online tally is sitting at $770, not including the money tins set up in local shops.
“We have one at the bakery in Leitchville, and one at the IGA in Leitchville, and there’s one at High St Barber in Echuca,” Kate said.
“We’re hoping to hit (our $1000 target), if we’re not there yet, we’re very close.”
For those in need of a trim on Saturday, High St Barber will be making donations for select services.
“Rick has said he’s donating $5 from every buzz cut on Saturday to the fundraiser, but he’s also doing $5 hairspray colours — all of that money will go to the fundraiser as well.”
