Beth Caldow, former country Victorian now London bound, released her latest single on October 13.
Rose Coloured Glasses is a sonic heartbeat – it punctuates the silence and carries listeners into a sea of melody.
Well look, look what we found, Beth sings, slicing through the noise.
Crafted over many years of experiencing almost loves, situationships and nearly-not-quite-rights, it explores the idea that we think these people are perfect, but only because we’re wearing rose coloured glasses.
“My favourite part about creating Rose Coloured Glasses was working with Chris Zane in his London studio,” Beth said.
“Chris is an American producer based in London who has worked with some amazing artists such as Passion Pit and Eves Karydas.
“It was really cool seeing my song, which has been written over many years, finally come to life.”
Those years of creation have been transcendent for the musical prodigy, allowing her time for growth and musing.
“I have such an eclectic taste in music ... I’ve always been inspired by a lot of Australian and New Zealand artists like Rufus Du Sol, Flight Facilities, Vera Blue, Lorde and RY X, but also Taylor Swift is one of the most influential singer-songwriters of the era,” she said.
Despite a change of address, Australia remains her calling card.
“I think the biggest adjustment is not being close to my family in Australia,” she said.
Beth’s evolution as an artist eclipses any feelings of homesickness and heartbreak, though, and her new single is a testament to how far the young woman from Tatura has come.
Rose Coloured Glasses is now available on all major streaming platforms, including SoundCloud, Apple Music and Spotify.
