Lake will head a new committee which was unveiled last week, as it aims to build on the foundations laid by the outgoing group, led by former president David Grubb.
“The previous committee have done a great job and they've given us a lot to work with,” Lake said.
“They've had several big achievements in the past few years and there is probably none bigger than the commencement of our new pavilion which we're hoping is ready around May next year.
“We're hopeful it doesn't just become an icon for our club but the area as a whole.”
While Lake has only just stepped into the role, he said the club was aiming to strengthen their football and netball programs.
“You are always looking for ways to get better,” he said.
“It's seriously important for us to get everyone from the juniors to the seniors on the same page because it is critical for our short and long-term success as a club.”
On a personal front, Lake has always bled black and white and by his own admission he doesn't know any other club than Moama.
“I'm a born and bred Moama person,” he said.
“I played my football here in the past and now I've got my own kids involved in footy and netball so I just wanted to give back.
“This club has done a lot for me and I want to stay involved for as long as possible.”
