After arriving in Echuca from the Gold Coast in January, Max has hit the ground running as part of a team of already wonderful volunteers.
“I moved here to be closer to my mum who owns the Rochester Nursery,” Max said.
“The opportunity to work at the house came through Bendigo TAFE where I've been doing a diploma in community service.
“Having this role has been a breath of fresh air for me and has given me a greater insight into our community.”
Max spends time at the house, Monday to Friday, completing several different jobs throughout the week.
They include delivering soup with the Moama Bowling Club van and Foodbank and he is also starting to take on jobs at Echuca Back 9 golf course.
“I like being able to put my eggs in different baskets,” Max said.
“Having the flexibility to do different jobs helps time to go a lot quicker and it allows me to meet a lot of different people.
“Being able to help people who need it most does make you feel good.”
Despite having only been in the twin towns for several months, Max said he was already planning to extend his stay.
“I'm loving every minute of my role,” he said.
“I've made a lot of great friends so far. I want to keep learning different aspects of the community so that I can become more involved down the track.
“I'd like to thank Sarah (Peake) for the opportunities that she has given me so far.”
