They are calling out to the community for new volunteers, urgently requiring the assistance of someone to assume the role of treasurer in this great organisation.
The role would be a volunteer position, and the appropriate person would form part of the Echuca Moama Men’s Shed Committee of Management.
Echuca Moama Men’s Shed secretary Greg Hansford has been on the committee and volunteering at ‘The Shed’ for about five years.
“Someone that probably has some financial background, it doesn’t necessarily mean they need to be a full-time accountant or anything like that,” he said.
“But someone with general bookkeeping and office work would be great.
“The current committee, we have probably been in place for five years, especially the treasurer and me.
“The man who is the treasurer now works as a volunteer in the office three days a week.
“If someone wants a receipt written up, comes in with a payment, needs to raise a purchase order, asks general questions about things, he is there.”
Mr Hansford is interested in volunteers who would like to help out in the office, help run the men’s shed, have office skills and may be able to take on the role of treasurer.

The treasurer could be seen as more of an office manager, and there is scope for sharing it among multiple volunteers.
“Maybe someone with some financial acumen to prepare the monthly P&L and balance sheet,” Mr Hansford said.
“I think new blood on the management committee would be good.”
The Australian Men’s Shed Association says the decision for a men’s shed to have female members is entirely a local one, in which the Echuca Moama Men’s Shed has decided to be exclusively for men.
“A lot of guys come along for a friendly cup of coffee, sit down and chat about things they need to discuss, that is part of what a men’s shed is all about.” Mr Hansford said.
“There are a lot of guys that have got some issues, whether they be medical issues, health issues, maybe domestic issues and they just need somewhere to go and have a chat with other men.
“They might want to say the occasional swear word.
“In The Shed, they feel relaxed and just want to be themselves.”
