The general meeting gave representatives of Moama Bowling Club the chance to engage with its members about the success of the previous 12 months and the numerous community groups and club developments that were held in that time.
There were roughly 70 visitors at the meeting who were either club members or people who were the beneficiaries of Moama Bowling Club’s generous sponsorship grants.
The club provided roughly $1.5 million in sponsorship and club grants to over 80 community groups in the year.
“We are very proud of how we can support our community, we want volunteers and groups to focus on what they do best which is organising great events for the community rather than having to go out and fundraise or look around for sponsorship,” Moama Bowling Club sales and marketing manager George Santos said.
“We know how hard the current financial climate is so we wanted to do our best to support volunteers, particularly because they pour so much of their time and effort into good causes.
“There is no plan to slow down on the club grants, we want to continue providing support to individuals and groups who need it.”
Moama Bowling Club’s general meetings are traditionally accompanied by guest speakers and this year those were St Joseph’s College students Cora Wilson and Layne Trevena who received a scholarship from the club to walk the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea in June.
Moama Bowling Club’s finance manager delivered the results over the last year and then presented a video which focused on the club’s community engagement efforts.
“The AGM is something we hold dearly, it’s our chance to share what took place in the previous year and for us to spread good news to our members,” Mr Santos said.
“The focus of the AGM video this year was community involvement, and we put quite a bit of effort into it, we wanted to highlight those that care for others, focusing on Vivid and CLRS, two agencies in our community that care for people that need it.
“We are on a good path, we have stability with both directors and senior staff and that shows us in a good light, we are achieving terrific results not only for our members but for supporting the community.”
