Electricity network provider Transgrid has come on board the event for the first time as a major Platinum Partner.
Transgrid’s presence and engagement in the community has grown over the past few years due to the lines’ proximity to some western areas of council.
Murray River Shire Council Acting Mayor Frank Crawley said the partnership was timely and fitting.
“Transgrid’s people pride themselves on putting local communities at the centre of their planning, thinking and service delivery for all of their major transmission projects,” he said.
“In partnering with Moama Lights, Transgrid is supporting a longer-term connection with our local region and its people and contributing to the ongoing growth of the local tourism sector.
“Together, we aim to stage an iconic event that generates significant economic benefits and increased destination awareness; so we are pleased to have them on board.”
Several partners have also come on board to help light up the Murray once again, including Moama Bowling Club as a Gold Partner.
Quest Echuca and Rich River Golf Club are returning as Silver Partners, and the Border Inn Hotel and Echuca Moama Accommodation Association have also thrown their support behind the must-see evening attraction.
Cr Crawley said the backing of the local businesses strengthens Moama Lights’ role as another signature event for the region.
“The support of our local partners really does show how we can work together in a bid to further showcase the area and generate greater visitation in the off-peak season,” he said.
“We are all working together to ensure we have an attraction that both the local community can enjoy and one that that may convert visitors into staying around a little longer; eating at our local venues or staying overnight.”
An immersive sound and light trail showcasing local stories, Moama Lights will feature light installations and projections including theatrical fog, strobe and cutting edge moving light technology.
The brand new story will be running in the evenings from July 31 to August 21 at Moama’s Horseshoe Lagoon.
