For the whole of October, and every other month, students are encouraged to walk or ride to school.
Principal Scott McKenzie said it was important to encourage the children to get out and about as much as possible.
“We want to make sure our students are leading healthy and active lives,” he said.
“Especially in the current climate of COVID-19, we really want to push this message.”
Of the school's 160 students, Mr McKenzie said around 100 of the kids were getting to school by bike, scooter or on foot.
“We do have a few students who come from out of town, but we encourage anyone who can walk or ride to school to do so safely,” he said.
“It's a great opportunity for the kids to learn how to get to school safely as well.”
