The Euroa Chamber of Business and Commerce and the Euroa Action Group have collectively received $50,000 through council’s 2024 Pitch My Project grant for new public art installations.
After the success of Euroa’s Magpie Swoop the Big Barrwarrang sculpture at the Euroa Seven Creeks Park, this project aims to connect this iconic work to the businesses around Binney St, and the art within the community garden.
Mayor Claire Ewart-Kennedy said the existing public art and this new opportunity would help create a vibrant public art experience across Euroa.
“Everyone knows what a drawcard Swoop has become, and the Chamber and the Action Group have received this next grant through Pitch My Project funding to capitalise on art tourism,” she said.
“I encourage everyone to share their ideas and feedback on our Share Strathbogie engagement site.
“Your input will help shape a detailed brief that we can provide to prospective artists in February, ensuring the final artworks capture the character and stories of our community.”
Council is taking suggestions on possible locations for the new artwork, themes and the community’s thoughts on the vision.
The final artwork will be selected by a consultative panel, in line with council’s Public Art Policy.
Representatives from the Euroa Chamber of Business and Commerce and Euroa Action Group, council’s art and culture officer and an independent arts professional will be part of the panel to vote on the final artwork.
Feedback can be shared on the artwork at share.strathbogie.vic.gov.au until 5pm on Monday, January 20, 2025.
