In a statement to parents and guardians, Mr Denson said he and Mrs McQuillan were extremely fortunate to have had a formal farewell event put on by the school community.
“It was wonderful to see current and past students and families come along to recognise and acknowledge our contribution over the years,” he said.
“We are deeply grateful for all the kind words and thoughtful gifts that were presented to us.
“So, for the last time, thank you for all the support and assistance you have given me and the staff at our school over the last 20 years.
“It has indeed been a privilege and we are very proud of what we have achieved.”
In her statement, Mrs McQuillan celebrated the week of farewells from the community.
“What a wonderful time this past week has been for Ian and myself,” she said.
“We have had some fabulous surprises and caught up with so many people that we have taught or worked with over the past 20 years.
“The gifts we received were very special and will be treasured keepsakes reminding us of the many wonderful people and special times at Nanneella Estate.
“I would like to take this opportunity to again thank everyone who I have met over my time at Nanneella.
“Our fabulous staff, our wonderful school parents and the school community have all contributed to making the teaching and learning at Nanneella Estate so special.
“A very special thank you to the students both current and those I have taught over the past 20 years.
“I have really loved being their teacher and working with them.
“I have enjoyed hearing all their stories and have been honoured to be a trusted adult in their lives.
“Teaching at Nanneella has been a very busy but rewarding part of my life and has created so many wonderful memories for me.
“It has been a privilege to be part of the educational experience at NEPS.”
