Frank Crawley, a sitting councillor, is recontesting in the Moama ward. He lives in Moama and has been in the region for eight years.
He is looking to continue the momentum he believes the current council has gained, and wants to improve liveability in the area.
While Moama’s population is increasing, he feels that other towns in the area have static or declining populations and does not want them to be unheard.
“I want to make sure that the problems facing different towns are tackled and nobody is left behind,” he said.
He wants to ensure council is financially viable, spending ratepayers’ money wisely and listening to the community.
Some of the issues that he values include more progress on the Meninya St project, a new Moama Police Station, improvements to the water filtration plant, to main streets in Mathoura and Murray Downs and to Cobb Hwy and Nicholas Dve intersection traffic management, industrial land development and continued support of volunteer programs.
Mr Crawley would advocate against water buybacks and support communities potentially impacted by clean energy projects.
He feels that he would advocate on behalf of the Moama ward and council area as a whole, listening to and discussing their concerns.
One of his priorities would be continued improvements to the request management system, to make issues heard and keep ratepayers informed of their progress.
“My experience in local government equips me to get things done,” he said.
Mr Crawley is confident his experience on council, as well as in community and sporting groups, equips him to make progress and cut through red tape.
He enjoys the lifestyle that comes with living in the area, including the people, environment and the location.
“We enjoy the benefit of having most city services while living in a country environment,” he said.
