Gen Campbell has lived in the area for 36 years and is a Moama resident.
She is hoping to be elected to bring a ‘back to basics’ approach to council, with leadership that reflects core council values.
Ms Campbell would look to control what she believes is excessive spending, as well as open up discussions and decisions to the community more.
Some of the issues that are important to her include rate affordability, protecting the existing car parking on Meninya St and parks and open spaces from being sold.
Drinking water is another priority, as she believes that the infrastructure has been left behind, resulting in residents boiling their drinking water. She would like to see upgrades to the filtration plant.
Another concern for Ms Campbell is the recent flood study, which she feels misrepresents the impact of the 2022 flood event.
“This adopted study incorrectly classifies the 2022 event as a minor, less than one-in-20-year flood event,” she said.
She believes that this error could potentially increase insurance premiums, as well as drop land values and limit residents’ borrowing capacity.
Ms Campbell feels she acts with honesty, integrity and is unbiased.
“My strong work ethic and proven track record stand as my strongest reference,” she said.
She operated a family business for 24 years in the area, and has been a supporter of kindergartens, schools, Beacon, the Lions Club and CLRS.
Working as a part-time health professional she feels has reinforced her gratitude for teamwork and the impact of working together.
She appreciates the people, the river, businesses, transport connections, open spaces, hospitality venues and community organisations in the area.
“It is my home, my family and my connection to place... I just love it,“ she said.
