Residents are encouraged to join their nearest LEAP (Local Emergency Action Plan) steering group and participate in the LEAPing into Resilience project.
LEAPing into Resilience is a joint initiative between Mansfield, Strathbogie and Murrindindi Shire Councils, collaborating with various emergency agencies within the community and funded by the Federal Government.
The project seeks to promote greater community resilience in being able to plan, respond to, and recover from emergency events.
Strathbogie Shire administrator Peter Stephenson said Nagambie is the fifth township to take part and develop local emergency plans.
Currently, LEAPs have been completed for Avenel, Euroa, and Violet Town, and Strathbogie is in progress.
“The development of these local plans has been such a positive community-driven activity,” Mr Stephenson said.
“There has been great participation from other communities, and we encourage Nagambie residents to get involved in developing their LEAP.
“You can register to join the steering group, which will be formed to guide the project to completion.”
The project is scheduled to begin in March and is expected to take six to eight months to complete.
To register, visit the Nagambie tab at https://share.strathbogie.vic.gov.au/LEAP-resilience and complete the registration form.
Registration closes at 5pm on Monday, February 26.
