NAIDOC Week celebrated in Cobram

The weather held firm for NAIDOC Week celebrations at Federation Park in Cobram on Thursday, July 13.

The event, which was organised by NCN Health in conjunction with Many Mobs Indigenous Corporation, was attended by students from Cobram schools and kindergartens.

Also in attendance were Moira Shire Council administrators John Tanner, Suzanna Sheed and, in his first official public event, Graeme Emonson.

State Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy was also present.

The official event was comprised of a Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony and a short speech before the students took part in various activities on offer.

The Rotary Club of Cobram provided a barbecue lunch for attendees to enjoy.

Many Mobs Indigenous Corporation co-founder and chief executive Iris Troutman said NAIDOC Week was about remembering the past work of Indigenous Elders.
