Kaps Kitchen, located in the OPT building, is run by Krishna Shrestha and his wife, Saru.
The couple moved to Australia in 2009 and settled in Echuca seven years later.
“I have 10 years of experience as a chef, and I’ve worked in many kitchens in Echuca and Moama,” Mr Shrestha said.
“In the last few months, I decided to set up my own business and wanted to give the people of Echuca Moama the opportunity to try Nepalese food.”
Mr Shrestha said the response since opening had been terrific.
“So far the business has had a lot of interest from the local community, and they really enjoy the food that we serve them,” he said.
“Our patrons seem to love the subtle flavour of the food, which has influences from India and China.
“I plan on having the business for the long term, with a menu that changes with the seasons. With food that is bought from local suppliers, giving our customers the best possible experience.
“Many people love trying different food from around the world. I think everyone will love the food from Nepal and they should visit us for a delicious, hearty meal.”
The menu includes Nepalese dumplings, chow mein and curries.
Kaps Kitchen is open Monday to Friday from 11am to 4pm for takeaway meals.
