The shop raised $1763.60 for the Baptist Union of Victoria (BUV) Bushfire Relief Appeal after committing to donate 100 per cent of their profits in January.
Pastor Donovan Jasper thanked everyone who visited the shop last month for contributing to the vital work of rebuilding communities.
“The day after it was published in the Riverine Herald, we had a couple of visitors who came in especially, they were really keen to support the bushfire appeal,” Pastor Jasper said.
“Our goal was to raise $1500 so to raise more than was really pleasing.
“The money is distributed to churches based in communities affected by the fires who are coordinating with the community and farmers to provide relief.”
He said Victorian towns Corryong and Lakes Entrance have received support from the appeal.
“We have already distributed some funds to help with the immediate relief efforts. For example, Corryong Baptist Church is distributing vouchers to people with immediate needs and some farmers are receiving hay for their livestock,” BUV Partnership Development Pastor Andrew Naylor said.
“We are committed to being good stewards of every gift towards this appeal whether it is large or small,” Pastor Naylor said.
