The first order of business was to elect a new mayor and deputy — with John Harvie to take the top job.
Cr Harvie is looking forward to working with fellow councillors to serve the Murray River residents.
“I look forward to working collaboratively with our newly-elected team to serve the needs of our residents,” he said.
“We need to be open, accountable and transparent and strive for evidence-based decision-making.”
Cr Neil Gorey was once again chosen for a two-year term as deputy mayor.
Some new faces in Gary Pappin, Kylie Berryman, Joy Allan and Biana Hurn will be councillors for the first time.
Joining Cr Harvie and Cr Gorey as returning councillors are Geoff Wise and Dennis Gleeson, joined by Gen Campbell, who has served on the council during a previous term.
Councillors voted to keep the ordinary meetings on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 1pm.
The next meeting of council will be on Friday, October 22, at the Murray River Council’s Moama council chambers.
