New mural at Victoria Park Lake

A new mural organised by the youth of Shepparton has arrived at the city’s Victoria Park Lake.

City of Greater Shepparton Mayor Kim O’Keeffe said the mural showcased the talent and creativity from youth in the region.

“The Greater Shepparton Youth Committee have worked hard to put this mural together, as a reflection of what represents them. They have taken inspiration from our diverse region, linking the mural back to Country,” she said.

The mural was funded by the Victorian Government’s Engage Fund.

Yorta Yorta artist Tammy Lee Atkinson as well as Wendy-Sue Atkinson were chosen to create the mural, which is made up of Traditional Owners’ art styles.

“The vibrant, cultural mural represents the story of the rainbow serpent snake,” Cr O’Keeffe said.

“I encourage all residents and visitors to get down to Victoria Park Lake and enjoy the wonderful artwork.”

The mural is located on the side of the stage near the skate park at Victoria Park Lake.
