New year, new name

The group’s aim was to help enable greater co-operation and promote the arts throughout the twin towns.

However, over the years the focus naturally shifted to the operation and utilisation of the Foundry Arts Space.

As a result, the name was changed to The Foundry Arts Space Incorporated on November 4, 2024 as decided at the group’s annual meeting.

Foundry chairperson Judi Lawler said the name change was necessary to mirror the group’s key operations.

“Looking ahead, it seemed to be time for the name of the organisation to reflect the main activities,” she said.

“That is, the management of the Foundry and the promotion of arts across the region.”

The Foundry will continue to advocate for art in the region and support local artists, art groups and businesses.
