The service is being offered to community members aged between 12 and 25 years old and will not require a referral from a doctor.
In announcing the new program, ERH explained its role was “to provide assessment, counselling, care and recovery co-ordination for youth throughout the Shire of Campaspe”.
The AOD Youth program will be tailored to each individual’s needs rather than using a template approach for everyone.
Individuals who access the Youth AOD services may also be referred to other services available at ERH if it will aid in the recovery process.
“We engage our clients with empathy and understanding in a non-judgmental and private manner,” ERH AOD youth worker David Barry said.
“If your AOD use is affecting your ability to live the life you want to live, it may be a good time to make contact with our Youth AOD team.
“We are here to help — we are here to minimise any harm a client may be causing to themselves or their community.”
Any community member that falls within the 12 to 25 age bracket is being urged to seek help by phoning (03) 5485 5800. Concerned family members, friends, schools or other welfare services are welcome to make contact on behalf of someone else.
