“I’ve always done painting from a young age, but I got back into it about three years ago,” Ms Snow said.
Ms Snow said it was during the coronavirus pandemic, art was her way of coping.
From that time, she produced the Koa Collection, a colourful exploration about strong women from different cultures.
“Koa is the Hawaiin word for ‘brave, bold, and fearless’,” Ms Snow said.
“And a lot of my paintings reflect strength — they’re my warrior women.”
Her painting titled ‘Princess’ was painted when the United States forces left Afghanistan last year.
‘Freya’ is of a Scandinavian woman and draws on Norse mythology.
Ms Snow is one of 35 artists from across the Goulburn Murray with work exhibited at Customs House Gallery.
The gallery has recently switched management, with Alan Davidson and Kate Villaroel taking the reigns.
“We’ve got artists from Shepparton, Bendigo, Melbourne, and Ballarat, but mostly from Echuca Moama,” Mr Davidson said.
“It’s pretty exciting.”
Nikia Snow’s work is on display and available for purchase at Customs House Gallery, located at 2 Leslie St, Echuca.
Her work is also on show at the Riverine Herald office.
