After taking up the sport just two years ago, the 12-year-old already has two national titles and Pan Pacific gold medal to his name.
Tarrant won the the second of those national titles earlier this month after taking out the 12-year-old 52.5kg division with his gold medal fight win coming against a fighter with a record of 76 wins and nine losses.
"I was really happy with the way I fought," Tarrant said.
"Going to a national competition you know it's always going to be tough but you're always going to give it your best."
To get to the top, Tarrant hasn't taken any shortcuts - training at Wickham's Martial Arts for up to six hours a week combined with a personal training session at Fitmob.
Tarrant's mum Larna said her son wouldn't be where he is without his coaches.
"We really appreciate all the time everyone has put into Oakley's development," she said.
"Matt from Wickham's has continually given up time to make Oakley better and Shannon Fink ensures his fitness is up to standard.
"They've shown him the way forward and Oakley is always listening to their advice."
While he is still riding high from his win at the national championships, Tarrant will now turn his attention to the Pan Pacific Championship in October.
But he is looking even further ahead to the World Championships in Las Vegas next year.
"Fighting an international event is a dream for a lot of people," Tarrant said.
"It will be a different sort of competition because the Americans are extremely talented. Even if I don't do well it will only make me a better fighter.
"Fighting in these competitions only exposes your weaknesses."
