“The group is a way of dealing with the trauma and promoting healing, by gathering through our culture,” group leader Carmel Harrison said.
“The group reached out to the local LANs group which supports our people and wish to thank Nicola Perry for her support.”
The Aunty Girls have also gathered at the Apex Park in Echuca in addition to ENH and welcomes new members.

Swap meet a great success
Val Cosway has got onto us about the 2023 Echuca Swap Meet held at Rotary Park last weekend.
Here’s her round-up of how the popular event fared.
“The Swap Meet Committee would like to thank all the buyers and sellers that attended our swap meet on Saturday,” she said.
“We had a fantastic day due to you all and also due to the “Man Upstairs”. If we had worked our own weather it couldn’t have been any better!!
“All the food stalls were delicious, it was even warm enough to justify having an ice cream van there.
“The radio station did an excellent job with their outside broadcast and the band Van Yt put on a great show with music for everybody. All in all a great day. Thank you everyone.”
Bounce into your weekend
Get down to Echuca’s Hopwood Gardens tomorrow between 10am and 11am to be part of the ‘Bounce Boogie’ showcase, run by Campaspe Aquatics.
Boogie Bounce is a training concept utilising a mini trampoline and gravity as resistance, giving a whole new dimension to the HIIT principle.
Rebounding challenges the cardiovascular system and helps protect the joints of the body while increasing muscle and bone density.
Organisers state that parent and kids boogie classes are for children under 5.
Boogie kids classes are for primary school aged children.
But please note, children under 10 must be supervised by a responsible person over the age of 16.
Moose on the loose in Alaska
A young moose entered a hospital at Anchorage in the US earlier this week. It strolled through the automatic doors and began munching on the potted plants kept inside the Providence Alaska Medical Center’s lobby.
The massive animal, which is endemic to Alaska, US, did not seem bothered by the presence of people around it. The security staff at the hospital tried to lure the animal back outside by dangling a plant in front of it but in vain.
Fortunately, after 15 minutes of munching the hospital’s indoor plants, the moose walked out of the hospital of its own accord.
Vale Barry Humphries
We lost one of Australia’s entertainment giants, if not our greatest giant in Barry Humphries at the age of 89 last Saturday.
There has been an outpouring of tributes for the man behind legendary characters such as Dame Edna Everage and Sir Les Patterson.
Riverine Herald journalist Jaci Hicken has shared a personal story of the time she met Dame Edna, which you can find on page 22 of today’s paper.
Vale Dean Holland
The Victorian racing industry was rocked on Monday by the death of jockey Dean Holland in a race fall at Donald.
Holland, a father of four young children, rode more than 1000 winners during a stellar career in the saddle.
Only last month he rode In Secret to glory in one of the state’s premier races, the Newmarket Handicap at Flemington.
A GoFundMe page to raise funds for Dean’s family has raised more than $1 million.
Holland enjoyed many triumphs in Echuca, riding 54 winners here, which was his second most-successful track behind Bendigo (57).
His death has been felt heavily by his many friends across the racing industry, including those in the twin towns.
