The program asks locals to save any postage stamps they receive on any mail or postcards and pass them on to the Uniting Church.
The stamps are then sent to Melbourne to be sold, with all profits being sent back to the Uniting Church Adult Fellowship to be put towards other causes.
Church member Liz Dellar said many were unaware that their old stamps and postcards could help others.
“People are throwing their stamps and postcards away not realising that money can be made and good can be done,” she said.
“[The UCA] get thousands and thousands of dollars out of it and distributes thousands and thousands to worthy causes. There is always a worthy cause.”
In Echuca, businesses can save their stamps and postcards to be collected regularly by Mrs Dellar or drop them in to the Echuca Moama Uniting Church.
The program raises around $20,000 a year from selling the stamps and in 2019 the program surpassed $1 million in stamp sales since it began.
The project has supported important initiatives such as providing support to West Papuan and Papua New Guinean refugees, a prevention of blindness project in Vanuatu, Dadirri Melton counselling services and many more.
