The afternoon was declared a great success by the approximately 60 people in attendance.
President Judith O’Farrell welcomed members and supporters, and especially Campaspe Shire Deputy Mayor Colleen Gates and her dog Bella.
Cr Gates has been a long-time supporter of the club.
Ms O’Farrell then gave a brief history of the club, which goes back to the 1960s.
Amazingly a number of the original members were at the open day.
Two of them, Clarice Stack and Imelda Warde, were persuaded to cut the ribbon officially opening the recent resurfacing of two of the courts.
A thank you was then given to Campaspe Shire Council for its $4000 Community Grant, and Apex for its $3500 cheque.
Without these funds topping up what the club had in reserve, the resurfacing would not have been able to proceed when it did.
Thanks were also given to club members and supporters who prepared the court surfaces for their new synthetic grass covering and who, over the years, have helped finance the entire venture at a cost of $44,000.
A lavish afternoon tea ended the day in true country style!
