As part of the initiative, residents across the region were asked to use their time in isolation to remove the prickly pest from their properties.
And those who took part had the opportunity to win a $250 gift voucher for local businesses.
“We uncovered dogs in ‘bindii boots’, mini biosecurity officers and even a monster weed as local residents took to the shovel to do their bit in controlling the spread of the dreaded bindii,” MRC's biosecurity co-ordinator Tim Moodie said.
“Being a weed warrior never looked so good.
“We’d like to thank the community for playing their part in weed control and having a bit of fun while doing it!”
The eight winners of the competition were:

● Marg Griffiths, Moama;

● Janet Cincotta, Barham – Janet was nominated by four Barham residents as she is known for spending many hours walking around town with a bucket and spade searching for bindii from nature strips.
Despite Operation Bindii coming to an end, council's biosecurity team will still be doing their part to fight back against weeds.
This will include a focus on spraying and removal at public parks and spaces.
“It’s very easy to remove the pesky weed from your property, just follow the lead of the bindii back to a central point in order to chip the weed at the root, but don’t forget to use gloves to protect fingers from nasty spikes,” Mr Moodie said.
