Yarrawonga Police were called to an incident on Saturday, November 26 on Lake Mulwala where offender/s have gained entry onto a cruise boat, moored at the Yarrawonga foreshore. The vessel was untied from its mooring ropes, causing the boat to float west downstream and rest onto the Yarrawonga Mulwala bridge. Damage to the boat is being assessed by the owners and both the Yarrawonga and Mulwala police are investigating. Man critical after gas bottle explosion
Yarrawonga and Cobram Police were called to a gas bottle explosion at a Burramine rural property at midday on Saturday, November 26. A 48-year-old fruit picker had a gas bottle explode whilst attempting to use a gas cooker. The male suffered significant burns and was taken via Air Ambulance to the Alfred Hospital where he is in a critical condition. It appears the incident was accidental, and the police and the CFA are jointly investigating.
Driver returns positive drug test
A 52-year-old Yarrawonga man returned a positive drug test after he was intercepted by Yarrawonga Police whilst driving on McLean Street at 8.45pm last Monday, November 21. The male driver was requested to undergo a Preliminary Oral Fluid Test where the driver returned a positive result for Amphetamines. He then accompanied police to the Yarrawonga Police Station where he furnished a further Oral Fluid Test which will be conveyed for further analysis. The male was served with a 24-hour notice of immediately driving prohibition.
