Stay safe on our roads
Ensure your vehicle is roadworthy and adapt your driving to suit the conditions. In poor weather conditions slow down, increase the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle in front, turn headlights on to be seen.
Never assume the road will be the same twice, be mindful of hazards such as black ice, pot holes, animals crossing, water over road, landslides, trees downs or collisions.
Before you head off ensure you have the right equipment, know how to use it and check snow chain requirements before heading up the mountain.
Ensure you stop in designated areas and know how to fit chains correctly.
It’s also importance to ensure you have enough warm clothing, food, water and fuel if the weather changes or you are delayed or diverted.
