Between last Tuesday, May 12, and Thursday, at least 10 cars have had items stolen from them.
Many of the victims are elderly residents from Sun River Home Park on the Northern Hwy.
Senior Constable Jacinta Morrissey of Echuca criminal investigation unit said two boys were believed to have stolen thousands of dollars worth of goods, including cash, sunglasses and GPS systems.
“We know of at least 10 thefts but this is an ongoing investigation so there may be more,” she said.
“It appears all the cars were locked and none of them were forced open.”
As such, SC Morrissey reminded residents to lock their vehicles and secure their valuables.
“If anyone has seen two people hanging around the area who could give us a description or they know who they area, we would ask they contact police or Crime Stoppers,” she said.
A recent Facebook post by Ray White Echuca shows CCTV footage of two young people in Sun River Home Park between 5.30am and 6.15am last Wednesday.
“They are entering private property in Echuca West regularly after dark and stealing not just goods and items from elderly folk but taking away the feeling of safety and security they are entitled to have at their age,” the post read.
“They were in no hurry this was their third trip back in to steal more in the space of 30 minutes. These people need to be caught as soon as possible.”
By late yesterday, the post had been shared more than 330 times.
