The event will kick off the second weekend of the festival, the night before the main event: Carnival Day at the Queen’s Gardens.
Festival volunteer co-ordinator Colin Armstrong said it was set to be a great event.
“If people haven’t experienced being on level 4 at SAM, it’s a fabulous experience, and we would love people to come along and enjoy the night — and, of course, the wonderful view and atmosphere of Shepparton Art Museum,” he said.
“We’ve got a really nice menu planned and we’ve been able to decorate the lower area of SAM a little bit.
“People can come as they wish or if anyone wants to dress up, of course the title of the event says it all, they can put on some sequins and come to SAM for a really nice event.”
Be entertained by special guest ‘Frock Hudson’, enjoy the sounds of Bailey Slade and Brandon Koolloos and walk the rainbow carpet.
There will be lucky door prizes, complimentary ‘bubbly’ on arrival, finger food and drinks at bar prices.
Sequins at SAM is part of the Weekend 2 Festival Pass, which also includes access to Saturday night’s Evening with the Divas event and Sunday morning’s Big Community Brunch.
As volunteer co-ordinator, Mr Armstrong said he was looking for more helpers to be a part of the festival.
“I support and engage the volunteers so we can have a fun time working within the festival, working with those volunteers’ skills and attributes so we have a great outcome for the entire festival,” he said.
“It’s nice to give back to both the LGBTIQA+ community as well as the general community and to help promote a really fun, safe and supportive event.”
He said the more volunteers they had the better to spread out the workload over the two weeks, but in particular help was needed for the biggest event, Carnival Day on November 12.
“The whole festival is fantastic for people to see and be part of and we’d love to hear from more volunteers,” Mr Armstrong said.
Volunteers must be 18 years and older; those interested can fill out a form on the festival’s website.
