The quick reaction of staff at Benalla Golf Club, and the speed of the response by the CFA, prevented a possible disaster last week.
A staff member raised the alarm about 10.25am on August 11 after a clothes dryer caught fire.
That was quickly extinguished and a basket of smouldering tea towels was removed from the building.
CFA members outside the club then doused the tea towels with water to ensure they were fully extinguished.
A CFA spokesperson said they were unsure what caused the fire.
“However, this is a reminder to people to regularly clean lint filters on dryers,” the spokesperson said.
“It is also advisable not to leave a dryer unattended while it is operating.”
