With students going back to school on Monday, January 30, motorists are being reminded to slow down around schools.
School zones will return with motorists needing to slow down to 40km/h in the mornings and afternoons as students arrive at, and leave, school.
Most school zone speed limits will be in force from 8am to 9.30am and again between 2.30pm and 4pm.
Drivers should be aware that children can be unpredictable and hard to see when they are crossing the road.
Shepparton Highway Patrol Acting Sergeant Richard Ivory said police would be patrolling school zones once school returned.
“I would remind people to be aware of school zones now they are recommencing,” he said.
“People tend to forget pretty quickly (about them).
“Sadly it’s often the parents that speed through them.”
