RRGC sales and marketing manager Paul Lavars said people won’t just be buying tickets to a great night out, they would be directly investing in the future of their community.
Mr Lavars said accommodation, hospitality and tourist destinations both sides of the river had been smashed by COVID-19 lockdowns for the past 12 months.
He said it was “a miracle” so many had been able to hang on to fight another day.
“Our campaign, across a series of events, is to try and raise $100,000 to go to Echuca-Moama Tourism to give their advertising and marketing programs a significant boost,” Mr Lavars said.
“The Wednesday dinner is just $100 per person and for that you get dinner and the opportunity to mix with the small army of stars who have turned out – at no charge – to help support our region’s recovery program.
“Then on Thursday, we will have our celebrity golf day, with 18 of our list of stars joining teams of three for a day on the greens, as it were.
“We are hoping that will contribute more than $30,000 towards our target.”
Mr Lavars said the stars would be mingling with the audience.
Other highlights included auctions and raffles – “and a lot of fantastic yarns from behind the scenes of so many sports,” Mr Lavars said.
The list of stars attending covers everything from AFL to athletics and includes Gary Buckenara, David Parkin, Emma Carney, Merv Hughes, Mark Allen, Jason Dunstall and Ben Dixon.
Tickets are available from Rich River Golf Club on 5481 3333 and numbers are strictly limited.
