Presented by the Kiwanis Club of Mooroopna and supported by Greater Shepparton City Council, this free event will take place on Saturday, December 14, at the John Gray Oval in Mooroopna.
The MCs for the night, Anthony Brophy and Jamie Lea, will guide attendees through an evening featuring 37 performances from local choirs and talented artists, including Mooroopna and Shepparton primary school choirs, the Ludlow Twins, Cindy Doherty and more.
“After 40 years, it’s become a tradition of the town, and people look forward to it,” Kiwanis Club of Mooroopna’s Tony Nappa said.
“It’s just a good family night out, with three hours of entertainment the whole family can enjoy.”
In addition to the live performances, families can enjoy a barbecue, drinks and treats from various vendors, including a coffee and doughnut van and a jumping castle serving slushies and fairy floss.
A highlight of the evening will be the camel rides and photo opportunities hosted by the St Alban’s Anglican Church, where families can dress up in a nativity scene.
But for Mr Nappa and his fellow Kiwanis Mooroopna members, the magic brought by the jolly man in red is what they eagerly anticipate.
“Santa throws the lollies out to the kids, and you get to see the joy on the kids’ faces — that’s what we look forward to,” he said.
With a usual attendance of 1000 to 1500, this celebration of community spirit and merriment is not to be missed.
Mooroopna Carols in the Park is on Saturday, December 14, from 6.30pm to 9.30pm at the John Gray Oval, Mooroopna Recreation Reserve, McLennan St, Mooroopna.
Alcohol is not permitted at the event.
