On Wednesday, March 22, that is exactly what we did.
Riverine Herald editor Gregor Mactaggart first donated blood 18 years ago and was already comfortable with the process.
“It is no hassle, especially if you have done it before,” he said.
Riv sports reporter Josh Huntly hadn’t donated blood before, but as he learnt more about the process, it calmed his nerves.
“It’s a pretty safe procedure, but it’s always important to do your research,” he said.
They got to the blood donation van and filled in a 48-question survey, ensuring they were eligible to donate and that it was safe for them to do so.
Once everything was answered, Mr Mactaggart and Mr Huntly were taken into a separated room where their blood pressure and oxygen levels were checked.
Then, the donation began.
The whole process took less than an hour and they both were comfortable after they were done.
“It’s an easy process — get around it,” Mr Mactaggart said.
“The staff were fantastic and it was a really relaxed process,” Mr Huntly said.
“Donate if you can, and donate regularly.”
