The primary students covered 2km of moderate cross-country terrain, while the secondary students ran for 5km — all to raise money for multiple local causes.
And RCCC PE teacher Julie-Ann Watson said the students were eager to give it a go.
“Every lap earned them a coloured wrist band and some have been so keen to earn more, they have continued running the oval during their breaks at school,” she said.
“It’s great to see such enthusiasm and determination, right down to our tiniest Prep students.
“I was very proud of our students, every person who was at school that day took part and every person completed the full distance.”
The school's first five primary-aged runners were Levi Pichler (11 minutes 30 seconds), Jahleel Atkinson (13:00), James Tucker (13:37), Ned McDonald (13:43) and Georgia Wiltshire (13:48).
Trinity Attwell joined in and achieved a time of 11:34.
The fastest five secondary students overall were Gabie Attwell (28:35), Kynan Holland (29:20), Christopher Bell (29:21), Noah Borg (31:52) and Simon Evans (32:29).
The school has managed to raise $667.60 so far.
More than $340 will go towards the sponsorship through Compassion of Emmanuel in Rwanda, and approximately $170 each to the Food Banks at both Epicentre and the local Salvos.
