Children qualified for this event by completing their school cross country run in a given time.
There were over 450 runners competing on the day, involving all the best runners from the schools from the Campaspe Shire.
The weather was perfect and the Rochester PS runners all produced brilliant runs.
The 9/10-year-old boys were the first race of the day, with their 2km run.
The school had four runners in the race and Cooper Rasmussen was the first from Rochester Primary to complete the course.
He finished 18th, with Ryder Murray (28th), Wil Hayler (48th) and Walt James (51st) all finishing in the first half of the competitors.
Next to run were the 9/10-year-old girls, where Rylie Town (35th) and Maddi Murphy (37th) did the school proud with excellent runs.
The biggest squad of the day was the 11-year-old boys and they ran hard from start to finish.
First to finish the 3km run was Asher Rasmussen (5th), followed by Judd Cuttriss (8th), Harry Rasmussen (15th), Corey Hoog (16th), Mason Mundie (31st), Cohen Traill (46th) and Louis Frawley (50th).
To have four runners in the first 16 runners was an incredible effort and was the first time the school had ever had so many top-16 runners.
The 11-year-old girls were next to run and they continued the brilliant day for the school.
Jasmine Watson (4th) and Keeley Major (5th) sprinted to the finish, neck and neck all the day down the straight, in a highly entertaining race.
The last Rochester Primary competitors for the day were the 12-year-old boys.
Charles Watson (13th) and Nate Toohill (35th) produced excellent runs and were still running hard as they crossed the finish line.
Children who finished in the top 12 in their race qualified to compete in the Regional Cross Country in St Arnaud on Tuesday, May 31.
The next level after that is the State Cross Country championships.
Jasmine Watson, Keeley Major, Asher Rasmussen and Judd Cuttriss have all qualified to compete in the Regional Cross Country and the school wishes them luck.
