Under Operation Amity, police recorded 49 traffic offences locally, most of which were people exceeding the speed limit by less than 25km/h.
Four people were found to be driving while exceeding the speed limit by more than 35km/h.
High speeds were an issue state-wide, with almost half of the 5206 traffic offences recorded during the long weekend being speed-related.
“For people to still think it was okay with so much traffic on the road is disappointing,” Senior Sergeant Damian Keegan said.
“We’re always going to stress for people to think before they get behind the wheel and not to (drive) if they’ve been drinking.
“There is definitely room for improvement on these numbers.”
