The upcoming function at the Border Inn includes a complimentary drink at 2pm.
Share the Dignity is a charity committed to ending ‘’period poverty’’ and stigma and supports more than 600 other charities.
“We are a 90 per cent volunteer-run charity, there’s lots of amazing work that happens,” Ms Appleton said.
“It makes women feel a bit better and more dignified about themselves.
“It’s such a small thing but it is so needed.”
Share the Dignity provides period products to women, teens, and people who menstruate.
The charity helps women who are homeless, fleeing domestic violence, and struggling to make ends meet.
“Just because you are homeless and run out of money doesn’t mean your periods stop,” Ms Appleton said.
“I was like, what do homeless women do on their period?
“We try our hardest to make sure people who need product get the product.”
The charity encourages people to donate a handbag that they do not use in good condition.
All products received locally stay in the local area, while excess product is filtered into nearby locations for people in need.
“It’s to raise awareness about the work that we do in Echuca Moama and across the country,” Ms Appleton said.
“The local people can support the Dignity Drive by donating period products from Woolworths.”
The ‘Dignity Drive’ holds two collection drives each year in March and August.
‘It’s in the bag’ is a Christmas collection held in November with collection opportunities at Bunnings.
There are many opportunities to help support women in need by donating period products and handbags, volunteering, and following Share the Dignity on social media to raise awareness.
“It really does make a difference to women,” Ms Appleton said.
